I then thought that perhaps you had meant this to be a mystery. Care to let us know?

Congratulation on a new adventure. I think you got a good start. I do like this dark mood of the photos a lot. In this type of photography huge role places placement of subjects in the photo and your creative styling ideas.

I like your #3 the most. It is does looks artistic. I like the placement of the main subject and the way you arranged spices. It feels balanced to me.

#1 I like the color combination and textures. White with yellow place looks good against brown wool. Diagonal placement of subjects is also interesting. But for some reason of the plate noodles bother me. Special the one on the bottom. They somehow don't flow nicely to me. I think it is a good idea to have them a bit of the plate, but maybe arranging them somehow different. I looks like they come alive and trying to escape the plate, lol.

#2 Once again I like the colors and lightening used which brings out the texture in dates and ball of wool. I just feel like coffee maker (I don't remember exact name of this thing) is a bit distracting on the background. Since it is so bright this is were my eye constantly goes, instead of the dates, which were suppose the be the main subjects I suppose, considering your DoF. To me it always helps to chose the main subjects first and then add others one by one and think do they compliment the main subjects or taking away from it.

These are just my thoughts and you asked to be honest, but I think you are really on a right pass, especially these being your first food images. Food photography is awesome and helps you train your artistic eye and get creative. Looking forward to see more.
