Guys, there is nothing wrong with a catch light in the eyes. It is usualy the opposite. You want the catch light in the eyes. It makes eyes more alive and drives atention to the eyes. Even when I shoot outsite, I try to find that catch light or use silver reflector to creat it. But it also depends where in the eye it is placed. On the second photo it is bleeding over on the white part of the left eye. This makes it look a bit weard. But it is easily fixible in Photoshop.
Also, If you want round catch light, beauty dish can be used instead of soft box.

I wonder if you have room to back the softbox away and adjusted the output, would that make the reflections smaller so that they look round and not square. Just a thought. However you shots are great just as they are. Thanks for sharing them.

Hello, I did not do anything with the eyes. She does have big eyes. This lady is about 5'2". This was not a brightly lit room so her iris is quite opened. This is what I like the least in this picture, because she has wonderful grey-blue eyes. I could not shine a flashlight in her eyes before each exposures, of course...

This is an annoyance I am trying to avoid, but apart shooting outside, it happens to me often.

Madman... If you mean the square reflections, they are in both photos.
I would guess that it's the softboxes. Happens all the time.

No, i`m thinking of the pupils. It looks like it is done something to them. They look fake.

Thank you. These pictures date from May 2010, I have gotten better since then with lightroom and retouching in general. Even if I could, I tend not to go back to old images to redo them, unless it is a major rework. Like if I was trying to rewrite history. Also, I am too busy working on new images.

Very nice portraits and the subject. Usually you have to be careful with colorful background, since they will reflect colorful light on your subject. But I think in this case it totally works. I like her pose and face expression. She almost speaks with her eyes. Very well done.
You could have retouched them slightly (like removed a few skin imperfections) for more polished look. But she is very pretty even without retouching. This is just me being picky and this is something I love to do. Just give me some pimples to remove, LOL. So when I look at photos I scan the face with my eye like with microscope.
