Hi Mathias! I think you did a good job on applying rule of thirds as well as straitening the horizon. I most cases horizon should be start (but there are exemptions). Once you know the rules, you can break them and get creative :). Just want to let you know, that Mandrake is our "Cricket = crooked police" (I always mix those two words up). He is always checking for horizons to be strait 😉

OK, I think I've identified the bright spot as a cigarette lighter, and perhaps a pack of cigarettes next to it, but I still have no idea of what the wired looking thing on the right may be.

OK, mathias, let's see if anyone else joins the guessing game.

As far as your cropping: Composition is better thought of while taking the photo, but can be improved upon in post processing. You did a good job on your photo of the two buildings... You certainly were thinking of the Rule of Thirds. Both horizon lines as well as the buildings are dead on.

The monkey is also on a third line, although I might not have not cropped so much off the top (or bottom) so that the image was less elongated. The fire shot doesn't matter all that much as it's not a presentable image anyway. I like the composition of the two electric towers. Again, it appears that you were concentrating on the rule of thirds.

There is much more to good composition other than this rule and you might want to try some of the other composition ideas that Oksana has talked about in her lessons. You might also wish to work on better exposure. Most of these photos are considerably underexposed.

Sure Mandrake. It would be interesting, though it is an easy one.

Please share your view on the cropping part. I'm new to photoshop and I've got to learn a lot of it. I watched Oksana's videos and just started with this.
