Well...I could think about the details. It's just that the subject(s) are impatient with that stuff. Also, it can be anxiety when their are others around you and you feel all the eyes staring at what you're doing. So...........sure, I could make each photo alot better. I know that...if it were up to me.

I know how it is Patrick. When you are out and about, you don't think about all the details., especially with people. You just want to take a picture. I feel like that sometimes too. But since it is a learning forum, I do have to give some constructive critique, so others can learn. I hope you don't mind.

I know about the posing.....when ever I'm with my camera and it's my wife or her and her friends, it's a whirlwind....their's just no time to be telling them to adjust that arm or leg. I guess i could and DO occasionally, at least if it's just my wife and me...but I'm not real particular..just to some extent with the posing...............moreso with the overall image, background compostion etc I understand ALL of what you're telling me though. I am reading day and night on the computer of broadlighting, EVERYTHING!!! that past 5 years of this. I just get overwhelmed some and when you're actually doing this stuff, you're not thinking as much about those things.

#1. Love the light and colors in the first image. I like the contrast between the sunset reflection and the darkness on the foreground. The one thing with I would change is to aline horizontal lines of the bridge.

#2. Your wife is so beautiful! Looks like you have some yellow fall trees going on on the background? We don't have too many of those in LA. You got nice bokeh in this photo. I would maybe pose her a bit differently. I would turn her more to her right and open the face to the light and let the shadow frame the face instead of light. Here you have example of the broad light (The side of the face that is getting the most light is the side turning towards the camera). I would like to see how short light would look. Very often it is more flattering then the broad light. So your wife is so beautiful, that no light can really mess her up, lol. I probably would also change her hand positing. It is a bit lonely out there, almost like it is not her hand kind of growing out of her head. Hand position often can make or break a portrait. Hands gestures can tell so much. Also very often it is the hardest thing to pose. I hope you don't mind the critique. It is just my thoughts on this and how I see it.
