Thank you everyone. Now I see what you mean. The picture is just too busy with too many distractions.

I will do a better job next time haha.

Many other pictures from the ceremony were taken, I will go through them to see if something is better to work with.

I'm afraid the majority rules on this one.
You gave it a good try but you do need to listen
to the advice of the members as they are right.
Don't be discouraged though - this would be a tough
setting to choose something that stands out to photograph.

I agree with Mandrake, there are lots of things in the pic to focus on! You need to highlight the focus on what exactly you need to show us! I like Buddhist monastery's a lot!! Try to avoid having many things in focus!!

Yes, there's much too much going on here.
Try to concentrate on a single subject with an unobstructed perspective.
Rule of thirds......... if possible.

Brian,
Whats I see is:

1- We can not see the statue face (the main subject is partially hidden)
2- The frame in the background is very disturbing
3- The black color in the right side of the background is very disturbing

Suggestion: Re-shoot please,

At the Buddhist centre that I attend we had a Je Tsongkhapa ceremony today. I took lots of pictures, here is one:

f/5 1/60sec ISO 100

Any and all advice is welcome. The centre has very odd lighting, plus saffron coloured walls.
