Yes, it is. I have Nikon 70-200mm, so I don't have a chance to use it to often due to staff I shoot. It is great for portraits, but is it so heavy that I prefer to use something lighter, lol. It is the lens to go to, when shooting concerts. Looking forward for pictures.

I have a canon 600D with the 18-55 kit lens. I just bought the mefoto 2350 tripod so will take pictures tonite of Sydney. Can anyone advise me on which lens to buy next? Im unsure. Also is canon as good as nikon? or should I change brands before I buy more lenses. I was planning on buying L lenses.

You need to see what is missing in your focal length and how much you will want to spend. Lenses are a long term investment and if properly cared for will last you much longer then the camera body.

Before you spend the big $$$ on L lenses you will need to know that all lenses are basically the same at f/8. The advantage of L lenses are better performance when shot wide open and better af speed.

My first lens after the kit lens was the Canon EF-S 55-250 because I wanted a bit more reach to compliment my kit lens. The performance for price is quite good with this lens.

My next purchase was tne Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 because i needed a faster lens for low light situations.

Later as my hobby evolved I bought more expensive lenses like Canon EF-S 10-22, Sigma 30 f/1.4 and Canon 100 F2.8L macro.

I believe the L lens that I own was worth the money that I spent as I have gotten shots that I would have missed and also gave me the option of exploring macro.

Bottom line L lenses are the best in their focal range and the price shows but if you are shooting Landscapes on a tripod at f/8 to f/11 then you may not notice a big difference.
