I'm thinking you are working with a zoom lens with a variable aperture. The maximum aperture would change with what focal length you have it set to. The longer the focal length the smaller maximum aperture opening, (and larger f/number).

You can set it in your camera, but what numbers you can set it to, depends on the lens. Some lenses have different widest aperture at different focal length.

I am playing with my Canon 650D in Manual Mode and the problem is that sometimes I can see F2 and sometimes I can not go below F3.5.
My settings:
Iso 400
Shutter speed: 1/200
Aperature (now stuck ) at F4.0

Am I missing something or did something wrong.

Please help.
