Shutter speed rule of thumb says: to avoid blurry photos use: shutter speed = 1/Focal length

 

The above rule is only for full frame cameras 35 mm, so if you have a camera with a crop factor the above rule will be:

 

Shutter speed = 1/ (focal length X crop factor)

 

As example my camera has 1.5 X crop factor, so for 200 mm focal length my shutter speed should be:

 

Shutter speed = 1/ (200 X 1.5) = 1/ 300
