Hi,
I have an issue with my New Nikon 18-200mm lens having auto focus problem.I can not take pictures with auto focus at all. I tried in camera mode in Auto, P,S,A, M etc

I’ve switched the button in both camera and lens to AF and M/A respectively

but If I switch to Manual focus, it works well, without any trouble in any camera mode.

Also when I change my lens to nikon 35mm(that is the only another lens I have) , it works perfectly in autofocus and manual focus. and I understand the camera (also a new D7000) has no problem in focus.

The lens is new one, bought in November from Amazon.
Had anyone experienced this problem in Nikon 18-200mm lens. anyway I am sending my lens for repair to Nikon.
Hope will get it back very soon.

Could be a problem of motor malfuntion. Did they returned the lens back to you fixed?

Thanks Daniela.
I got my lens back yesterday after repair. They’ve install and calibrate a new silent wave focus under warranty.
It was an excellent service by Nikon Service center, Ireland and really appreciate them to test and repair the lens within 8 days time including post time.
The auto focus seems ok. hope the lens will bring some good images .
thanks

Glad to hear you had such a good experience with
Nikon. I had an autofocus issue with my 35mm on a D7000
and it took 6 weeks for repair and return in Canada.
The lens works perfectly now but 6 weeks was a long time to
wait!
Dale.
