Before taking these pics i never held a dslr in hands, But i have a craze of photography all i know from months of readings is what settings to be done in what situations. so applied them in few hours while i borrowed my bro’s camera. I am planning to buy 600D or 60D soon, as i am told these pics were my first attempt with a dslr, critique comments would also be appreciated, do let me know good/bad things about these pics.

Not bad for a first try. I like the color. You just need to work on composition. The mirror in the lower left corner on the first picture is a bit distracting. On the second picture you cut the 2 lions off.

thank you for your reply , actually i included mirror intentionally
in the second pic i wanted to zoom one lion only but as i am told i was using a kit lens 18-55 so couldn’t zoom much.

– The mirror is a bit distracting and I have to ask whether or not you had a hood lens on your camera?
– I like the second picture better. I particularly love the tree trunk reflections on the water.
– Great job for a first time. Keep it up.

Thank you @es175player @millerbest
@CafeAuLait, thank you, yes it was the first try with dslr, i used 500D canon, and lens that i used was an 18-55 kit lens.
in the second picture as i have cut two lions is because i couldn’t zoom enough on the lion due to 18-55mm.
mirror is distracting but i included it myself to show that the pic was taken while sitting in car.
thank you for your appreciation, its encouraging to buy a dslr. the one with i took pics was borrowed.
