You guys are very beautiful couple! Your wife has gorgeous smile.
Now about the photo itself. I would make a few changes. First of all I would not include that pole on the left. I think it doesn’t add nothing to the photo, but being a distraction. My eyes keep on going there. If you want to show the environment you are in, I would include that green cabana, which is behind the pole (just remove the pole to make it all visible). I would place you guys a bit more into the rule of thirds. Cabana will be a balancing element on opposite side. I do like that you have shallow DoF. It looks like a sunny day, but you both are in the shade. I would brighten you up a bit and darken the background. You could have user fill flash, reflector or darken the highlights and bring ten up the shadows in post.

Oksana, I use Pocket Wizards. They are manual and very hard to use accurately, or at least to “fast” photos when everyone wants a photo done as fast as a cell phone photo. i bought the wizards, then re-sold (loosing money thru ebay), then decided i wanted them again. Then sold one again because using three of them is just too complicated for these kind of events. Then, i bought the infra-red ST-E2 transmitter because it allows me to use TTL metering, then i sold THAT! because the P.Wiz. are radio and i can use one for backlight very far away with no worry of transmitting.

I can estimate exposures fairly right first shots, at least in the ball park. Like this photo…i had someone take our photo of course. And i know the pole wasn’t good but i had no time to compose a much better background. People don’t want to move here or move there. These are parties! and i’m very reluctant to tell everyone to do this or that. Thought about removing it (clone) but the background cabana would be alot of time to clone it right where the pole intersects. I have alot from this picnic, so it’s not a big concern to do this. I did use fill flash. YOu can see it somewhat. I might have done what you say, if it was ME taking the photo, but it wasn’t.

Got it, Patrick! But it is a learning forum, so I had to make a suggestions on improvement.
I personally am the worst model, because I will annoy the hell out the photographer, lol. “Do this! Do that! This is my better side, etc… ” lol

Well, i read tons of things on how to pose people, but i’ll never get around to telling them, such as “short lighting etc”. These are filipinos and they are hyper! They don’t want to be posed this way or that way, just shoot the pic! I’m very particular about things and it bothers me that i can’t do better photos because of this. P.S. You’d be a great model. :-))))

LOL, Patrick! I feel your pain! But that sound like a good challenge for you next time you guys have a picnic ;) You can ask your wife to help you. Two people is always better them one, when it comes to organizing groups.

I do DO that already Oksana. People listen to her. On this shot of the two of us, i had the camera preset and everything, i just said to press this ONE button, and he ended up adjustting the focal length! I had it from where he stood so it would just capture our upper bodies only and crop everything else out. That’s what happens when you let someone else do it.

Patrick… The photo is easily cropped and I’m sure the original file is large enough to maintain resolution.
You’ve demonstrated you editing abilities, so why not make the image as you wanted it?
